Best Practices in Seller Intelligence

It is recommended to first conduct category or brand research and perform an assortment gap analysis. Once the missing category or brands are identified, users can identify the best sellers for the items needed, analyze the seller performance and finally retrieve seller contact details. Once the seller is contacted and converted, Cluster then has the data to show all the products that merchant sells to seamlessly onboard full product details (see suggested seller intelligence flow image).

Cluster helps marketplaces, aggregators and others identify top sellers from across channels, filtered based on your parameters of the sellers you need to acquire on your platform. Filters to choose from include Categories of Focus, Total GMV, Number of Listings, Price per Item, FBA/FBM, 1P vs. 3P, Ratings/Reviews, etc.

Cluster taps into the largest product catalog to make recommendations on finding power sellers including sellers with the best ratings, stores across multiple channels (and locales coming soon), and higher GMV for example. However, as part of the process, Cluster will evaluate your search criteria to determine the characteristics of the sellers you find most valuable today. For example, an evaluation can include the ideal category mix, SKU counts, sales velocities, GMV, and channel/country/seller store expansion opportunities.

There are no general restrictions on the sale of personal data under GDPR. However, data controllers must comply with the principles of the GDPR, including fairness and having a lawful basis for the processing. So, platforms (like Cluster) that provide lead information are allowed to sell their data as long as the data collection complies with GDPR. But it’s important to note that even though we have the right to sell this data, it DOES NOT give organizations the right to ABUSE THE DATA. Read more about it in our Privacy Policy.

Cluster seller intelligence tracks data from across channels and locales, and while it can stand alone as a lead generation use case, has even greater value when added into other Cluster capabilities and workflows like assortment gap analysis (to find out what products are missing) to seller intelligence (to get those seller contact details) to seller store (to seamlessly onboard those merchants). What’s more, Cluster seller intelligence delivers business contact details for each contact versus a general info@companydomain email address.

At Cluster, our goal is to create a common language for all of our products. Using this approach helps us to create a better user experience, shorten delivery times and increase customer independence. In doing so, we have been able to learn from our customer’s about more use cases from flagging fraudulent sellers to identifying more eco-friendly sellers, and more.
